The Swedish tax authorities have told former tennis star Bjorn Borg he must pay begin to pay taxes in his home country after decades of tax exile, a newspaper report said Wednesday.
Having escaped the Swedish taxman since his big-earning days in the 1970s and 1980s by settling in Monaco, Borg brought the fiscal investigators back on his trail when he married last year, the Expressen daily said.
His wife and newborn son both live in a 275-metres-square apartment on Stockholm's swank Strandvaegen, and the tax authorities, suspecting that their husband and father was not far, asked him about his current residence.
Borg replied he was still a resident of Monaco, a tax haven, and held a driving licence from there.
