Secure e-mail makes federal policy irrelevant

The department of commerce's export restrictions on secure encryption products keep looking dumber and dumber. Not only are they putting the United States behind in offering global business-to-business services that require secure communications, but the rules are also pointless from a law enforcement standpoint: Any crook bright enough to come in out of the rain is using one of the many encrypted e-mail services for secure communications.
